Hannah's Prayer Ministries provides Christian-based support and encouragement to married women around the world who are struggling with the pain of fertility challenges, including primary and secondary infertility, pregnancy loss, early infant death, and adoption loss. Our outreach extends to those who become mothers of living children through pregnancy, adoption, and/or foster care.
A Brief History of Hannah's Prayer Ministries
Hannah's Prayer began as two separate ministries. Julie Donahue started Ladies in Waiting in 1995. She expected it to be a small circle of friends on AOL, but within three years it had grown to include about 2,000 members from around the world. Ladies in Waiting offered more than 70 topical groups through an e-mail list and bulletin board format. At about the same time, Jennifer Saake started Hannah's Prayer, which grew to reach thousands of families through a printed newsletter, chat rooms, and a resource website. In 2001, Ladies in Waiting was officially incorporated into Hannah's Prayer.
The following year, the Hannah's Prayer Community Forums message board was launched, providing an online gathering place for thousands of women dealing with all aspects of infertility and loss.
The history of Hannah's Prayer is a testimony of God's amazing faithfulness, and we look to the future with great anticipation as we trust that He will continue to lead and provide!
